This year, the Harvard University Employees Credit Union once again awarded five high school seniors a $1,000 scholarship as part of our annual essay competition.
In the program’s second year, the all-volunteer Scholarship Review Committee reviewed a record number of applications from students across the country. Like our applicants, the committee volunteers represent a diverse group of individuals from our own HUECU community. “All of the applicants in this year’s pool were incredibly gifted. It made the committee’s job incredibly difficult,” noted one scholarship reviewer. “If these kids are the future, then it looks incredibly bright to me!”
We would like to thank all of our Reviewers for their time and advocacy on behalf of these wonderful students.
HUECU is pleased to announce the 2018 Scholarship Program awardees:
Jessica Dias-Jayasinghe, Bentonville, Arkansas: Attending Harvard College.
Justin Duffy, Lino Lakes, Minnesota: Attending Harvard College, concentrating in Biology.
Ciaran Hourihan, Millis, Massachusetts: Attending Tufts University, concentrating in Economics.
Aminah Johnson, Cheltenham, Pennsylvania: Attending Spelman College, concentrating in Biology.
Regan Kevany, Hopkinton, Massachusetts: Attending the University of South Carolina, studying Nursing.
We would like to congratulate our scholarship recipients on their hard earned achievements. HUECU would like to congratulate all of our applicants, and wish everyone the best of luck as they begin their college journey this fall.
