America Saves Week wrapped up here at the Harvard University Employees Credit Union on March 3. Coordinated by the American Savings Education Council and America Saves, America Saves Week is a campaign to empower and encourage Americans to tuck away a little extra money. America Saves Week materials highlight how saving a little money now can help you a lot in the future- as well as provide support and strategies for making it work for every American.
Our staff and members were encouraged to take the America Saves Week pledge to set a goal and take the first few steps towards obtaining their goal. To help our members reach their pledge goals, HUECU held multiple webinars, in-branch events, and workshops to provide our communities with strategies to simplify the process of saving money. We also partner with GreenPath Financial Wellness to provide confidential financial advice to our membership year-round.
Nationwide Campaign Success
This year is the first year that HUECU has participated in the America Saves Week initiative. Nationwide, there were over 1,800 organizations involved with America Saves Week in 2018. There was a record-breaking 30,000 pledges from Americans all over the country who are going to take thousands of financial actions as a way to start saving up.
Take the Pledge to Save
Although America Saves Week has come and gone, it is not too late to take a pledge of your own! If you are interested in taking the pledge, please look on the HUECU website for a link to take the pledge. The pledge is entirely on the honor system and no private information is shared with the Credit Union.
