HUECU's Student Advisory Council

Feb 3, 2020 5:00:00 PM

As we begin the new semester, we wanted to introduce you to our Student Advisory Council. These students work in collaboration with us as we plan financial education programs, university engagement events, and they help us improve our student banking services. These students are able to gain perspectives from HUECU about the intersection of finance, not-for-profit, and education industries.

This cohort is composed of 8 Harvard College students from a multitude of places and backgrounds, who share a deep interest in economic diversity and inclusion. They have helped us workshop ideas for Wintersession and were some of the first people to test our new online banking system.

Chi Chi Nwodoh is a recently-graduated senior from Leverett House studying Chemistry. As a first generation student from a low-income, single mother family, Chi Chi is passionate about financial education and interested in the intersection of personal finance and business. Chi Chi was a wonderful addition to our council and we thank her for her service!

Ryan Leung is a second-year student in Dunster House from Lexington, MA. He is interested in economics, finance, public policy, and government, and believes that financial literacy is a far-reaching and critically important issue that spans across all these fields. When he has free time, he plays spikeball with friends and is always ready for a new adventure abroad.

Valentina Gutiérrez is a first-generation, low-income (FGLI) college student, born in Colombia but raised in Rhode Island. She is a senior in Lowell House studying History & Literature. She believes financial education is important across campus, and especially for FGLI students. When she’s not in class, she can be found teaching adult immigrants how to speak English.

Abdullah Shazad Qureshi is an international student from Lahore, Pakistan living in Matthews Hall studying economics and computer science. He grew up understanding the importance of personal finance and hopes to work as analyst on Wall Street. He loves to sit down with a big meal and binge watch his favorite Netflix shows.

Michael Cheng is a sophomore from Pennsylvania studying History and Mathematics. Michael is looking forward to reaching student members where they are in their finance knowledge. Michael loves to study the history of political thought and renewable energy, but also loves to hike and read poetry.

Debora Gonzalez is an active HUECU member and third year student in Eliot House studying Sociology and Government. As a young immigrant to Miami in middle school, she became interested in personal finance and is excited that she will be able to help fellow students understand how important setting financial goals can be. She spends her free time outside, reading, and going on spontaneous adventures with friends and family.

Emile Radyte is a senior international student from Lithuania studying Neuroscience and Anthropology and lives in Eliot House. She hopes to spread the word to her fellow international students that HUECU is not only a great opportunity to connect to the community, but it is also an institution that cares. She loves spending time reading and exploring new places when she isn’t in the classroom.

Beau Meche is a third year student from Duson, LA in Currier House studying Economics and Government. Beau joined the SAC to be able to help in bridging the gap between the tools that the credit union offers and the undergraduate student body. When Beau isn’t in the library, he can be found at a Sox game, enjoying time with friends, cooking, or at Jefe's.
