On Wednesday, June 1st, the Credit Union sponsored an Academic Career Panel & Speed Networking event for members of the Boston Post Doc Association (BPDA).
The BPDA is a coalition of postdoc associations throughout the greater Boston area whose advocacy efforts include organizing social and career development events to bring community members together. Event organizers were represented from many areas including Harvard’s own HMS/HSDM Postdoctoral community.
Moderator Sarah Dykstra, a Tufts University Postdoctoral Fellow, steered a panel of industry professionals on how to effectively manage and advance your career in the world of academia and research. In addition to sharing their own experiences, panelists addressed common challenges many postdocs share in establishing a professional identity, lab management, and making use of available resources.
Creating a collaborative environment among postdocs is central to the mission of the BPDA. The evening’s event included questions from the audience, networking, dinner and financial discussions with HUECU.
