James Lawrence, Retail Operations Administrator, is the 4th Quarter 2016 Service Champion recipient.
The Service Champion award is HUECU’s internal recognition program for service excellence. Each quarter one employee is selected who personifies the HUECU commitment to personal service.
Prior to joining HUECU, Jim worked for USAlliance Federal Credit Union as a Card Services Manager. Jim started his credit union career at the former Progressive Consumers where he worked in Marketing & Business Development before transitioning to Operations and IRA Program Management. At Progressive, Jim was fortunate enough to work with John Degnan and Mike Levine! Jim joined HUECU on January 6, 2003 as Manager of EFT Services. Jim’s department eventually absorbed Deposit Operations and started the electronic delivery support functions. As we have grown, some areas have been spun off into separate departments however Jim’s area still covers a diverse range of activities including overdraft privilege, exception processing, and mobile deposits.
In addition to managing his department, Jim has guided us through some major projects over the past couple years. Implementation of overdraft privilege, conversion to Statement Advantage, and dramatically improving the address quality of our database to reduce returned mail just to name a few. Jim also made sense of our shared branching balancing procedures and has used his ACH knowledge on several occasions to reduce our loss in cases of fraudulent activity.
