HUECU’s first quarter Town Hall was held this past Friday, February 12th, with President and CEO Craig Leonard. Craig answered a number of questions from members, including inquiries about HUECU products, optimizing finances with HUECU, branch locations, and safety of member information. Below is a brief recap of the event, and to view a full recording of Friday’s Town Hall, visit our YouTube channel!

Craig kicked off the virtual Town Hall by answering questions submitted by members before and during the webinar, including highlighting new products and services being offered by the Credit Union. One such development is that HUECU is now offering contactless credit cards, such as the new Platinum Rewards+ Credit Card. The Platinum Rewards+ card offers 1.5% cash back on every dollar spent, and is designed to provide members with straight-forward value. As Craig pointed out, this new credit card has an attractive reward structure offered at low rates and with the same benefits as other HUECU cards, like no annual fees or penalty rates. “You’re getting the benefit of rich rewards, and you’re not paying a high rate of interest on the product,” he explains.

An exciting upcoming announcement for HUECU is the introduction of two new Smart Rewards Checking Accounts, launching in early March, which includes a premium interest account and a cash back account. “The other service that we’re excited to launch,” continues Craig, “is Zelle.” Zelle is a peer-to-peer lending solution, similar to the popular app Venmo, which will allow members to send and receive money quickly and safely with people they know and trust.

One member question was, “Why does HUECU only offer mortgages in Massachusetts?” To that question, HUECU is excited to announce that recent changes in state legislations has allowed for the expansion of HUECU mortgage offerings to new states. Mortgages will now be available in Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and of course, Massachusetts.

As a not-for-profit, member-owned credit union, it is important to everyone on the HUECU team that members feel connected with the Credit Union and confident in the services being provided. As Craig puts it, “Life is stressful; life is complicated. The way you interact with the Credit Union shouldn’t be.”

Town Halls will continue to be held quarterly on Friday’s at noon so that members can submit questions and catch up with the latest HUECU news. A full playlist of past town halls can also be found on HUECU’s YouTube channel. In the meantime, HUECU support is always available to help answer questions, and updates are posted regularly on social media!
